Millerods Pitch XHS

These rods originated from a recent custom rod project designed to solve a very specific fishing challenge. An angler needed a spinning rod capable of casting slightly smaller lures to Murray cod he was spotting on LiveScope, while still having the power to handle big, aggressive fish. The result was a light-lure yet cod-capable design that quickly proved to have far broader applications.

After building and testing an early prototype, Ian Miller recognised the potential of the concept and developed a more powerful model — the Pitch XH. Designed from the ground up for this application, the custom blank offers easy casting performance combined with the strength needed to turn hard-fighting fish away from heavy cover when required.

The shorter length makes the Pitch series ideal for vertical fishing with electronics, kayak fishing and any situation where a compact rod provides better control. While developed with Murray cod in mind, the Pitch XHS is equally at home chasing barramundi, snapper, mulloway and even pelagic species when lighter lures are needed to tempt big fish.

Light, well balanced and highly sensitive in the hand, the rod is effortless to cast and becomes a powerful tool once a fish is hooked. The full Fuji reel seat with carbon locking hood provides a secure connection, while the slightly extended fore-grip offers extra leverage when needed. Custom-shaped x-firm EVA grips and a longer blue Camoufish butt section finished with the Millerods anti-skid butt cap deliver comfort and control during long sessions.

The KR anti-tangle guide train features a smallest ceramic size of #7, allowing smooth line flow and easy clearance of heavier braid and leader knots. Built for anglers who demand precision, strength and versatility, the Pitch XH is a true specialist rod with a wide range of modern fishing applications.
